How To Invite Almost Anyone To Google+, Without The Invites

I’m chucking this post up in a real rush, because I just want to share this before I get into my next meeting – forgive the brevity, I plan to update later.

Right, so I got onto Google+ and wanted to share the love and invite some friends and colleagues to find out how it all works. Except the Invite system isn’t working, they’ve turned it off. I still really wanted to share, so I found a way and here it is:

If you just want to invite on person:

  • Write a post in your stream
  • Click ‘+ Add circles or people to share with…’
  • Type the email address of the desired recipient
  • Click Share

If you want to invite many contacts:

  • Import contacts to the Gmail account you sign into Google+ with (plenty of tutorials on the internet for this, I’ll link to some later)
  • Add all these contacts to your ‘Friends’ circle (Circles -> More Actions -> Select All -> Drag to ‘Friends’)
  • Go back to your stream
  • Type a post
  • Click ‘+ Add circles or people to share with…’
  • Select ‘Friends’ Circle
  • Click Share (you’ll probably get told that x people aren’t part of Google+, just press OK then share again)

Et Voila! You have now sent an email to all those people with an email to sign up to Google+
